Biography
Giacomo di Carlo is born 22 November 1856 in Corleone, the son of Giuseppe di Carlo and Marianna Saporito. His godparents are Maestro Liborio Di Palermo and his wife Pietra D'Anna.[1]
Giacomo marries Domenica Campagna (b. 24 Jan 1859), the daughter of Salvatore Campagna and Marianna Vaccaro, from Monreale (Mezzomonreale)[2] and a resident of Corleone since childhood, on 25 December 1881.[3]
Giacomo and Domenica have eight known children: Marianna (1881), Giuseppe (1884), Salvatore/Charlie (1888), Giovanna (1890), Leoluca (1893), Antonino (1895), Vincenzo/Jimmy (1898), and Nunzia (1901).[4]
Marianna is born on 16 Nov 1881 in Corleone.[4]
Giuseppe is born on 4 June 1884 in Corleone.[4]
Salvatore is born on 2 July 1888 in Corleone.[4]
Giovanna is born on 21 September 1890 in Corleone.[4]
Leoluca is born 1 March 1893 in Corleone.[5]
Leoluca dies at nine months of age, on 25 December 1893.[6]
Antonino is born on 11 October 1895 in Corleone. His father, Giacomo Di Carlo, is a borgese. They live at via Lavanche, 36.[7]
Vincenzo is born 1 June 1898 and baptized ten days later. His godparents are Antonino and Rosa di Carlo, unmarried brother and sister.[8]
Marianna marries Salvatore Ridulfo on 14 October 1899 in Corleone.[4]
Giacomo and Domenica immigrate around 1900 to New York. They return at an unknown date.[4]
Nunzia is born on 30 March 1901 in Corleone.[4]
Giuseppe marries twice, first to Serafina Macaluso 5 Oct 1914 in Manhattan.[9]
Giuseppe and Antonio also came to the United States and went to California. Two other sons, Salvatore and Vincenzo, settled in Texas.[4]
Vincenzo settles in Dallas, Texas, by around 1917. He marries Maria Francesca D'Alessio. Vincenzo works first as a barber, then as a grocer.
Antonino marries Marianna Governali before 1918.[4]
Nunzia marries Vincenzo D'Amico on 28 October 1920 in Corleone.[4]
Giuseppe remarries to Catherine Francis Russo around 1926.[4]
Giovanna dies on 15 January 1938 in Corleone.[4]
Giacomo dies in Corleone on 29 March 1939.[4]
Marianna dies on 18 February 1947 in East Meadow, New York.[4]
Vincenzo dies in Dallas at age 68 on 13 May 1967.[10]
Nunzia dies on 21 Aug 1974 in Catania, Sicily.[4]
Antonino dies on 20 Mar 1976 in Los Angeles, California.[4]
Giuseppe, also called Joe, dies on 4 January 1982 in Downey, California.[4]
Salvatore, also known as Charlie, dies about 1994 in Dallas, Texas. He was married to Anna, whose surname is not yet known.[4]
